My love affair with LUSH started a few years ago when my kids kept requesting bubble bath over and over and it really messed with Laila’s sensitive skin. Carson also broke into hives after putting Laila’s Bath and Body Works shower gel straight on his body…think Blue Man Group style body paint. It was a mess. After googling “All natural bubble bath recipes” I came across LUSH! I feel the need to state that this is NOT a sponsored post. I simply love to share products testimonials for items that I’ve become passionate about.

Natural bath and body product favorites from Elle at Home blogger Lacey Hill

  1. Angels on Bare Skin: This facial cleanser is very different from the liquid ones I typically use. It’s made with lavender, ground almonds, and all sorts of skin softening ingredients. You just take a little bit, create a paste with some water, and use on your face! The scent is heavenly, and my skin is so soft after I use this. This was one of the first products I tried after reading the rave reviews, and I’ll never stop using it!
  2. BIG Shampoo: GAME CHANGER. My hair has never felt as soft as it does after I use this shampoo. It’s made with sea salt, coconut oil, citrus juices, and more. It smells amazing and a little goes a long way so this tub lasts me quite a while! I was so weirded out by the salt aspect, but after trying a sample (LUSH readily gives out samples of every one of their products!) I was amazed at the results. I have very thick hair, but I would imagine that people with thin or fine hair would really see an improvement in volume after using this!
  3. Toothy Tabs: These are so much fun! Basically you crunch one tab in your teeth and it starts fizzing. Wet your toothbrush and brush like normal! These are made with all sorts of essential oils like Neroli, Spearmint, Frankincense, and more! I have these in my purse at all times in a little pencil case with my floss and toothbrush to use after lunch, or after drinking coffee to prevent enamel staining. They’re also perfect for traveling, which I do about once a month.
  4. Brazened Honey Mask: Face masks are probably my favorite skincare product of all time. That’s right! I have over a dozen at any given time and I do one almost every night. This mask has kaolin clay, ground almonds, and all sorts of skin-helping oils. I use this mask to rejuvenate and soften my skin with the help of honey, ground ginger root, and lime oil. It’s so nice to use right before bed because it has the most relaxing scent. I just love honey for skincare!
  5. R&B Hair Moisturizer: I’m going to make a bold statement and say that this is my absolute favorite LUSH product. My hair has always been super thick, coarse, wavy, frizzy, and just plain unruly. After using this product, I’m so happy with how healthy my hair has become. Like every product in this list, it smells phenomenal (Orange Blossom and Jasmine) and is made with the best ingredients. I use this on freshly washed hair, from mid shaft to my ends. If you have dry scalp issues you can also use on your scalp! A little goes a long way, so a large tub can last a year.
  6. Bath Bombs and Bubble Bars: Our bath time favorites!!! I can’t say enough about these. My kids are obsessed with them, they all smell so good, and the crazy colors are so much fun! I even buy some for myself, but I have to keep them separate from the kids’ stash or they’ll use them all up. I highly recommend these, especially if your kids are not huge fans of bath time.
  7. Don’t Look at Me Mask: This is a great mask to use in the morning, and I typically use this on Sundays when I’m doing a hair mask. It’s an exhilarating mask made with lemon juice, kaolin clay, and ground rice. The ground rice exfoliates while the lemon juice helps to brighten the skin. Because these masks are kept in the fridge, they really wake up your skin first thing in the morning! Bonus: putting them on cold tightens your pores! Think reverse of a steam facial.
  8. Yuzu and Cocoa Body Wash: Uuuggghhhh this body wash smells amazing. I used up the small bottle I bought in a week and went right back and bought the biggest bottle they sell. I can’t even describe the smell, although it’s basically orange and chocolate. The best part about this body wash is that I can use it on my children’s sensitive skin every single day with no irritation from perfumes or dyes, and no drying of their skin! Just call me obsessed.
  9. Kinky Hot Oil Treatment: I recently bought this to try and it was pretty fun to make! You mix it with hot water until it’s the consistency of a thick conditioner, and leave it on dry hair. Then you simply rinse out of your hair and wash like normal! It’s a reverse treatment system (compared to shampoo then conditioner) and washing with BIG Shampoo after left me with such soft and shiny hair that I thought I was imagining things. Again, my hair is NOT typically soft or shiny without the use of heat and a ton of product, so I’m a true believer in these hair treatments.

Is there anything more heartwarming than receiving a gift that someone made for you?

Homemade gifts are my absolute favorite thing to do for holidays, you can’t beat that special touch that only DIY goodies have! In the past I’ve whipped up a bunch of desserts and given them out to friends and neighbors, but this year I decided to step it up a notch. I’ve been using Young Living Essential Oils for the the past 6 months, and they have truly changed my life. So when I thought about what to do for gifts this year, it was a no-brainer!

I love to wrap and dress gifts, to create fun tags and labels with my “faux-ligraphy” and to really just present a beautiful package. That’s one reason why I love to give DIY gifts; you can really get creative with the presentation. Here are the Five Days of Gifts that I featured on my essential oils Instagram page @minty.lace.


1. Sweet Dreams Pillow and Linen Spray: Nothing puts me to sleep like this blend. I have a roller ball with this mixture that I put behind the kids’ ears right before bed, a diffuser blend that we turn on each night, and this glorious spray! I spray our pillows each night before bed and it’s just the most relaxing scent. Bonus for me, I take this when I travel about once a month. I don’t sleep well in hotels at ALL, and this spray helps me immensely.

Sweet Dreams Linen Spray

Recipe: In a 2oz glass bottle, put 7 drops of Lavender oil and 5 drops Cedarwood oil. Add a tsp of either unscented, alcohol-free witch hazel or the rose infused version. Top the rest with distilled water and you’re good to go! Spray sheets nightly for all of the sleepytime vibes.

2. Elle Rollerball Perfume: I’ve always been super obsessed with perfumes (just ask my husband, it’s a little out of control) and I had too much fun creating this blend. I decided to name it Elle and it smells lovely! I tend to gravitate towards floral scents with earthy undertones, and I’m loving the exotic feel that Ylang Ylang gives this scent.

Elle Rollerball Perfume Using Essential Oils

In a 5ml glass rollerball bottle add the following: 5 drops each of Ylang Ylang, Grapefruit, and Orange, and 2 drops of Patchouli. Top the rest off with either fractionated Coconut Oil or Jojoba Oil.

3. Les Fleurs Bath Soak: I’m not one to turn down a nice, hot bath; especially when I get to add a fun spa treatment to it! This bath soak smells like a flower garden and helps to detox the body while soothing aches and pains. Win win!

Lavender and Joy Bath Soak Recipe

Recipe: In a bowl mix 2 cups Epsom Salt, 1 cup Pink Himalyan Sea Salt, 10 drops Lavender Oil, 5 drops Joy Oil, and 1/4 cups dried Lavender flowers. Divvy up mixture into 4oz or 8oz glass containers and decorate as you like!

4. Thieves and Purification Foot Soak: Now, I don’t know many people who regularly soak their feet, but I’m here to tell you – it’s so relaxing! I created this recipe for a member of my family who shall remain nameless. They have less than pleasant smelling tootsies, let’s leave it at that! Out of curiosity I did one too and it was such a pampering treat that I decided to give some out this year! Add this to a large container of hot water (not steaming, and only large enough to put both feet in) and soak your aching feet for 5-15 minutes. You’ll feel so relaxed after! Bonus – Thieves is a known immune system supporting blend, and it’s best absorbed through the feet.

Detoxifying and Relaxing Foot Soak Recipe

Recipe: In a bowl mix 1/2 cup Epsom salt, 1/2 cup Pink Himalayan Sea Salt, and 4 drops each of Thieves and Purification essential oils. Divvy up into small glass jars (I used 2oz jars) and label. Add mixture to hot water and soak feet to ease aches and assist in detoxifying the body.

5. Grapefruit and Mint Sugar Scrub: My favorite bath product is body scrub, hands down! I love the feeling of exfoliating my skin, it helps me feel so clean and refreshed. Not to mention the anti-aging and beautifying benefits that it offers to the skin! I make all kinds of different body scrubs from sugar and coconut oil, but this blend is always my favorite! It’s festive and invigorating, perfect for waking up in the morning shower!

Invigorating Grapefruit and Peppermint Sugar Body Scrub Recipe

Recipe: In a large bowl, mix the following together: 1 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup solid Coconut Oil, 10 drops Grapefruit Oil, and 5 drops Peppermint Oil. Whip together with a spoon and divvy up into glass jars! This keeps nicely in the shower, and smells heavenly.

This weekend I officially started my holiday baking. October-December is really the only time that I bake…and now that I’ve typed that out I realize that I don’t really know why! I guess because baking is a “cozy” thing for me to do, and I really only get the inclination to bake when it’s the holiday season because that’s when I feel all warm and cozy inside! Anywho…I’ve been eyeballing this recipe on Pinterest for over a year now, so I finally broke down and made it on Sunday. I’ll post below too, because I altered it just a tad. I’m obsessed with my Young Living Essential Oils, so I substituted the Orange Extract for Orange Oil…so much better!

I have the best intentions when I start…nice neat work space and ingredients…


…and the reality of being the messiest chef ever sets in once I’m underway.

By the way, am I the only person who has to have TV on in the kitchen? I never really sit down and watch TV normally, but I live on my ipad when I’m cooking. I typically have either Friends on or some sort of holiday movie. Right now I’m working through the X-Files series again. I want to believe.


For Dough:
  • 3 (.25 ounce) packets active dry yeast (2 and ¼ Tablespoons)
  • 1 and ¾ cups warm water (approximately 110 degrees)
  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 4 to 6 cups flour, plus more if needed
For filling:
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
For glaze:
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 Tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
  • ½ cup heavy cream (more as needed to reach desired consistency)
  • 3-5 drops Young Living Orange Essential Oil (to taste)
  1. Preheat oven to 170 degrees, and then turn it off. You want a warm oven to help the dough proof.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the warm water and yeast. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes until yeast begins to bubble.
  3. Add the honey, melted butter, salt and eggs. Use a whisk to combine.
  4. Using the dough hook on your stand mixer, slowly add 4 cups of flour and beat to combine. Mixture will be wet.
  5. Then add ½ cup at a time until dough pulls away from sides of bowl but is still slightly sticky. This will be a wet dough, so don’t add too much flour. Your finger should stick to the dough but shouldn’t pull any dough away with it.
  6. Move dough to a well-oiled or buttered bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and place in warm oven. (Make sure the oven is off now!)
  7. Allow dough to double in bulk, which will take about 45 minutes.
  8. After dough has risen, punch it down and roll it in to a large sheet, approximately 16×24 inches.
  9. Spread filling (see below) over the dough, then tightly roll into a jellyroll shape, starting at the long end of the dough.
  10. Using string, floss or a sharp knife, cut into 1-inch pieces and place into a buttered 9×13 pan.
  11. Cover with a towel, and place back into warm oven. Allow to rise for a second time, about 20 minutes.
  12. Preheat oven to 375 degrees, and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  13. Drizzle glaze (see below) over the top of the warm rolls, and enjoy!
For filling:
  1. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Spread evenly over rolled dough.
For glaze:
  1. With a whisk, combine all ingredients until smooth. Glaze should be thin enough to pour, but thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. If necessary, add more cream or sugar to achieve desired consistency.

Take it from me: do NOT sub Heavy Cream with Coconut Milk!

I sent Michael to the store, but he forgot the heavy cream! Silly me thinks “Well coconut milk should be a good substitute”. NOT. The glaze totally did not turn out, although the flavor was awesome! These rolls were one of the more involved recipes I’ve ever attempted…I don’t think I’ll be doing them again, although they’re very good! What is your favorite thing to bake during the holidays?
